The mountain celebrations including the “Goaßbockfest” on the Schönangeralm are another highlight of the Wildschönau autumn.
The festival starts on 08 September at 10.00 with a mass on the mountain meadows.
The judging of the goats for the “most beautiful Goaßbock” award is the highlight with the trophy of a carved wooden billy goat for the winning farmer.
The event is organised by the Auffach young farmers, along with the Schönangeralm mountain hut and cheese dairy.
Experience has shown that the Almkirchtag on the Schönangeralm is very well attended, so it is advisable to use the cable car from Auffach and not to attempt to drive up to the Alm. Of course, one can also combine a visit with a hike or bicycle tour. The Schönangeralm is a popular starting point for some fantastic tours!
