The Kelchsau valley is a side valley leading off from the town of Hopfgarten in the Tyrol.
The region offers beautiful slopes and a unique panorama of the Hohe Tauern with the famous peaks of the Großglockner and Großvenediger, plus the Kitzbüheler Horn, the Wilder Kaiser and the Loferer and Leoganger Steinberge.
It is a favourite destination for both snowshoe tours and ski touring enthusiasts.
The Hohe Salve holiday region offers free winter snowshoe hikes on an almost daily basis, with refreshment stops in the region’s rustic huts and cosy inns.
Ski tourers can take advantage of around 20 different routes in the area, which are marked on a special touring map available online.
