Gmünd, the ‘home of artists’ in Carinthia, is renowned for its amazingly lively cultural life.
A William Turner exhibition in a small town in Upper Carinthia with just 2,600 inhabitants? Several museums, galleries, guest studios and a well-funded art education programme for children?
Almost 30 years ago, Gmünd decided to become a city of artists. Since then, the range of art and culture on offer has grown steadily. The Gmünd Cultural Initiative organises around 120 events on 260 days a year.
One of the highlights in 2019 was the exhibition of watercolours and etchings by the famous British painter William Turner.
But hurry if you are still interested! It can be seen in the Stadtturmgalerie Gmünd until 29 September 2019.
