The 260-km cycling trail through southern Burgenland has been dubbed the “Paradise Route”. The marked circular route crosses through three nature reserves, over rivers and streams and through the heart of the local wine-producing area.
Red wine lovers appreciate southern Burgenland just as much as wellness enthusiasts. The region, with its sun-drenched hilly countryside, boasts the locations for some of the best red wine-producing vineyards in Austria.
Those who are more attracted to a relaxing break will also find what they are looking for. Several towns offer thermal baths and spa hotels for a soothing few days.
But enjoying the wine and wellness does not mean that visitors have to miss out on activities. The 260 kilometre long Paradise Route leads around the hilly south of Burgenland and is best done by e-bike.
The undulating route is mainly on asphalt through nature parks, past vineyards, and along streams and rivers. Impressive fortifications such as Güssing Castle and Schlaining Castle tell tales of earlier centuries.
The Buschenschänke (local ‘wine inns’) are the best place to stop for a bite to eat. E-bike packages with bike rental, accommodation and luggage transport can be arranged through the regional tourist office.
