Vienna’s Schönbrunn Palace, Belvedere Palace and the Liechtenstein Garden Palace are all romantic backdrops for Advent markets in 2022.
Every year during Advent in Vienna, palaces also provide the magnificent setting for Christmas markets alongside the loveliest squares, alleys and parks.
The cultural and Christmas market in front of the baroque Schönbrunn Palace is open from 19 November to 26 December 2022. Its specialities are traditional arts and crafts and handmade Christmas decorations. It is followed by the New Year’s Market until 3 January 2023.

Close to the city centre, the Christmas Village in the park of the baroque Belvedere Palace is a good place to get into the pre-Christmas spirit. Stalls offer a wide selection of arts and crafts as well as warming food and drinks from 18 November to 26 December 2022. For children, a Christmas workshop with a supervised programme opens in the Lower Belvedere.
The Advent market will be held for the second time around the baroque Gartenpalais Liechtenstein in the 9th district. It is still considered an insider tip for those looking for a quiet atmosphere. Around 25 exhibitors will be offering traditional Christmas decorations and other Christmas products from 18 November to 23 December 2022. Children can take a ride on the historic horse-drawn carousel.
